Look at what I’ve got – Whisper Cardigan made with Habu Tsumugi Silk Yarn! Honestly, the yarn is rougher than I expected, but after it’s blocked, it got softened up a lot. Remember if you want to wash it for the first time, soak it for at least five minutes. Some oil came out and they float to the top; and after a couple rinsed, there were quite a bit of dirt too. But after it’s all washed, it’s clean and soft.
Tsumugi Silk from Habu is a lace weight, but I used it to make a cardigan! Quite an experience. It’s light as air, and yet trendy! It’s not a long project but it took me longer than a month because I no longer have luxury knitting time. But Whisper cardigan doesn’t require a lot fo attention – simple Knit and Purl. It’s one of the advantage I like about it – this way I can pick up the needles and knit anytime I wanted without looking at where I was before.
The pattern was fun to knit as well. It’s a top down so I basically knitted to the length that I wanted. Less than 2 cones were used, and I got the length that I wanted. It’s just perfect for the spring weather!
Due to the new love experience with Habu, here’s the yarns I am using on my needles -
It’s Tsumugi Silk in Red Wine, with Shosenshi Paper in Grey. I got one ball each from the Knitter’s frolic, and knitting two together. And these are the results so far –
Isn’t it pretty? It’s an exceptional combination and I’m loving it so far! Although it’s hard to knit, the shosenshi paper is REALLY PAPER like. My hands are actually sore from knitting it. Not to mention I got a hard time purling. I ended up knitting it in round so I can move on faster.
I just love the combination.
Planning to make a top down sweater. Original design. Well, design as I go. Hopefully it will work well!

I have long admired this yarn. What an inspired use for it! I never would have thought about using it for Whisper, but I *love* it!!
Your work is absolutly incredible:) My most sincere compliments:)
That looks lovely!
Your Whisper Cardigan is so amazing! I love it so much! It makes me want to run out and buy that yarn asap and cast on! Really great job!!!!

Wow, that is so interesting that you’re knitting with paper! I was at Frolic too – I went to meet Lillian there! I didn’t see any Habu, which booth was it at? (Who was selling it?) Nice stuff.
And your whisper cardigan is really nice! It does look light and fashionable!
your whisper cardi is so pretty! Great job. That yarn combo looks really intriguing- can’t wait to hear what you have to say about that paper-y yarn once it’s blocked!
Luv your Whisper in Habu, but love your new combo of Habu even more (Both materials & colors)!!! Can’t wait to see your creation!!

Have a nice day
I’m so happy to see your Whisper – you’ve done a great job. I’ve been thinking of making this but thought it was too short. So I’m glad to see how nice it turned out with the extra length.
You gotta touch it ,everyone! It’s really light, and airy..
it’s just so light that it may feels like wearing nothing …
It’s gorgeous, I love it.
However, it’s not really my style. But I love Angel’s version for this cardigan!
I also love the Habu paper.. , I know ,it’s weird to knit with it. but it looks so different… hope you will keep it up, you won’t regret….
Beautiful choice with the tsumugi silk! It looks so delicate but hardwearing at the same time. Beautiful.
