FO: What happen when lace and cable became friends?
February 18, 2008 by angelknits
In my opinion, lace is lace, and cable is cable. They are both beautiful on its own, but they don’t go together well. Since when I became an adventurus, I combine the two together in my new creation - kid mohair lace, with merino wool cable sweater, my original design.
My initial idea was to use the merino wool to make a vest - with cable at the bottom, and plain at the top; it was hibernating for a while. When I picked it up again, I realized the top was way too big….maybe 40″. So I decided to rib. The next thing I know, I realized I have a ball (440yds) of the kid mohair sitting in the stash starring at me. There it goes…..make use of the mohair texture and use lace as the top. But how would it looks like…..it was a mystery until I tried it on today. My mom loved it; other said it’s innovative; one other said “different”, meaning it’s “weird”, I guess. Oh well, it’s my original design and like it.
I tried to use the same angle when taking the pictures like what Lillian did….but it’s nothing close to her photographer quality. I just adores her photographic skills….
And do you know how hard it was for me to write a new post….I want to open my blog and see all her beautiful photos as my blog’s headline. It was just bea-ti-ful!
Pattern: My original design
Yarn: 1 ball (440 yards 100g) of Alchemy, Promise - 47w pale blue eyes
& 2 balls of Lana Grossa Numero Uno
Needles: 4.5mm & 6.5mm
p.s. thank you for all the lovely comments in the previous post….you all meant a lot to me!

Blew me away when this picture came up. You have created a beautiful project here !!! Ingenious and brave. I love it and can’t wait until you release your pattern.
oh wow angel! that’s awesome! good for you! it’s so fun to make up your own pattern- isn’t it? i have been working on one myself right now and even though at times it is tempting to give up and just work on something that has already been ‘figured out’ it’s so satisfying to work through it! congratulations! it’s beautiful!

I love the color and the pattern. It turned out very nice.
wow, that’s gorgeous..
I love the combination of the yarn, it looks very pretty on you.
this is a very innovative idea.
cool!
but, to be honest with you (hope you don’t mind), in my own opinion, I think the cable and the lace is a bit ‘busy’ …
if there is less the cable, or the lace is more simplified one, it may look better. I think I am more the ’simple’ lover, and just because I don’t have the patient to knit the cables. haha
you did a great job anyway
very proud of you, Angel!
